
Mayowa S. Gbenro
AssociateMayowa (“Mayor”) Gbenro represents clients in complex litigation and regulatory matters involving oil and gas, eminent domain, natural resources, land use, and real property disputes. With over a decade of litigation experience, he advises landowners, mineral rights holders, and energy companies in trial, appellate, and administrative proceedings.
Mayowa’s practice focuses on disputes and advisory matters at the intersection of energy, land use, and property law. His work includes oil and gas leasing, condemnation, and inverse condemnation actions, spacing and pooling issues, mineral title and ownership disputes, easement matters, and royalty payment claims. Prior to joining Hamre, Rodriguez, Ostrander & Prescott, Mayowa was a Senior Associate at a top-tier litigation and corporate law firm in Nigeria. There, he oversaw aspects of high-profile commercial litigation, including contract and construction disputes, oil and gas litigation and regulatory advisory, and property-related claims. His work also included appellate practice and alternative dispute resolution. He played leading and active roles in case strategy, legal drafting, and client representation before trial and appellate courts, as well as before arbitral panels.
Mayowa is licensed to practice law in Colorado and Nigeria and brings a multi-jurisdictional perspective to litigation strategy, dispute resolution, and regulatory compliance. His cross-border experience enables him to navigate complex legal regimes and multifaceted energy, land use, and infrastructure matters involving diverse stakeholder interests. He holds an LL.M. in International Business Transactions from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and is completing a second LL.M. in Global Natural Resources, Energy, and Environmental Law at the same institution.
Mayowa remains actively engaged in academic and policy discussions on energy law, land rights, and environmental governance.
